I am reading the first half of The Help for the 3rd time. I keep getting through it and then getting distracted. I almost made it last time but I like starting over so it is fresh in my mind. :)
When I saw this question, I laughed. I did read Something Borrowed. I hated the movie. I read facebook status', People and US Weekly magazines, Signonsandiego.com, ESPN.com. I just can't get excited about reading. I never could. I read a chapter and forget what I read, or I start thinking about other things. I was watching my little cousins, Kylie and Ady the other weekend. When naptime came, they want you to read a book to them. Well Kylie is reading little chapter books. I was thinking to myself, "Oh good lord, how long is this going to take." How bad is that? Thankfully, Ady likes to sing. So we sang Justin Beiber and Selena Gomez. She is totally on my page.
sorry for the double posting...cami messed up the last one : ) Kwissy - loved The Help!! Jilly - loved Something Borrowed too! I'm reading Sarah's Key at the moment, however, I forgot it when I went to San Diego, so I started to read The Art of Racing in the Rain because I found it in my parents bookshelf. So now I'm in the middle of both and can't decide which one to finish first. Decisions, decisions...
I LOVED The Help. So much that I haven't seen the movie because I don't want to be disappointed. Have any of you seen it? If so, how does it compare to the book? Beseda, Sarah's Key is a movie as well. Haven't seen that one either. I have The Art of Racing in the Rain on my bookshelf, let me know how that one is.
I couldn't believe I read Something Borrowed in one day. Good to know the movie is a bust. I'm sad because Jon Krasinski is my secret crush and I wanted to see him in it.
Much like Annie, People and US are much More up my alley! That being said, I have attempted to read The Help three times and am currently on page 63! Have also started the Steve Jobs bio, but haven't picked it up since November 14! I want to finish that and also Rob Lowe's book. My mission keeps growing, I will start to read again!!
I was afraid The Help movie wouldn't live up to the book, too but I really liked it!! I thought they did a good job with casting and it was really well done! Granted, I watched it the other night when Cami had been fussy ALL day and Tom was out of town...curled up with a glass of wine and probably would have been happy watching paint dry! Ha. Watch it Jilly and let me know what you think!!
Have any of you mamas read Hand, Hand, Fingers Thumbs? On the flight back from SD the lady behind us read it to her 2 year old the entire way and I wanted to punch myself in the head. "Dum ditty dum ditty dum dum dum." for 3 hours. ack!
I am ashamed to say that I am not reading anything and I cannot remember the last book that I did read....must have been 10 years ago. I did see the movie 'The Help' and I loved it. I guess it should be my mission to read more. It looks like there are many suggestions, now I just need to pick one. I also agree with Shannie, I will need to make it my mission to post here every day. Such a great idea.
Loved the Help and was so so sad when it ended. Sarah's Key disturbed me... I love and hate books like that. Im currently reading Steve Jobs Bio - so good! He is really crazy/talented but overall a really interesting guy. A woman sitting next to me on the plane back was reading 1,000 White Women so that might be next on my list.
I'm reading a book called "Poser: My Life in 23 Yoga Poses" I love it!
ReplyDeleteI recently finished that book "Something Borrowed" in 1 day. (I know, I'm late to the game)
Over the summer I read:
Sarah's Key
Clara's War
I got The Hunger Games for Xmas, so will be reading that next.
Annie, I'll comment for you:
ReplyDelete"Oh, I know about books."
-Annie Broselle
She's currently reading the latest edition of People Magazine.
